Volunteerism
“To change lives through sustainable service”—that is the mantra of Joseph Appiah, a CPA, who has volunteered from his home country Ghana at a young age, to helping with Texas Mission of Mercy—a pro bono dental restoration service project, and then to help build a community dental clinic in Panama. His volunteerism has no geographical or cultural boundaries. He continues to volunteer in senior homes, mentor young professionals, and help underprivileged communities. This is why he is all in for helping lead Citizens Taking Responsibility.
I believe that within each of us lies a powerful, resilient human spirit that has the capacity to thrive — regardless of one’s life circumstances. Hope and healing occur as we learn to embrace our unique gifts, develop self-compassion, increase self-awareness, and implement coping skills into one’s daily life. A person flourishes as they learn to approach life in authentic ways while being true to their identity. I am passionate about my work because I believe that we all have the capacity to excel and find joy in the journey of life.

She is married and has 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Tracy began his programming career by sneaking onto his older brother’s Atari 400 to learn BASIC when he was about 11. This early experience shows learning is a combination of curiosity, opportunity, and work. Eventually, he earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Utah Valley University and has worked for 35 years applying math and programming in fields ranging from video games, consumer statistical analysis, and radar analysis and tracking.
He has a special interest in teaching methodology, especially in math and computer science. Experiences in tutoring teenagers in math revealed how many people think they are bad at or don’t like math, when almost always there was just some gap that went unnoticed. He is passionate that this should not have to be the case.
